Slip and Fall in Parking Lot Results in Award of $390,000

Robert Yusem slipped on ice in a parking lot in a Pennsylvania industrial park in 2000, and suffered serious injuries, including fractures of his elbow, arm and ankle. It's taken seven years, but a jury recently awarded Yusems and his wife $390,000 in damages based on a claim of premises liabilty. In his "slip and fall" lawsuit, Yusems argued that the defendant parking-lot owner carelessly allowed water from rain spouts to drain onto the parking lot and driveway, and allowied ice and snow to build up, creating a hazard. The jury obviously agreed.

Woman Sues over Slip and Fall at Wendy's

Delores Walker, of Chicago, filed a lawsuit against a Wendy's Restaurant in Chicago recently, seeking in excess of $50,000.00 in damages resulting from a slip-and-fall incident. Walker claims that Wendy's failed to inspect and maintain the restaurant, among other things, causeing her to fall and suffer permanent injuries.

Slip and Fall Lawsuit Filed Against Bronx Theater

A Theater in the Bronx and a Synagogue have had a slip and fall lawsuit filed against them by a man that broke his leg while attending a dinner event. A temporary stage and staircase was built over the theater seats for the dinner. The man fell down the staircase.

Attorney Al Bernstone, who is representing the Karans in a lawsuit seeking an as-yet undetermined amount in damages, charged that the theater was negligent and should have constructed a stage that was safe.
"This could have been avoided if the staging area was constructed properly," said Bernstone.
A woman who answered the telephone at the Riverdale Jewish Center said the executive director was not available for comment. Paradise Theater reps were on vacation.

The dinner was on June 7th at the Paradise Theater. The man also claims that the theater was poorly lit and the tables were too close together.
